Translating Magento 2 Extension Using Inline Translation

In this article you will learn how to perform Magento 2 inline translation.


Create different Store Views for different languages in order to start the translation.

  1. Go to "Store" in your Magento 2 Admin Panel.
  2. Select "Configuration" section in the "Settings" tab.

  1. Go to "Advanced" tab.
  2. Select "Developer" section.
  3. Select the Store View you need to perform your translation on.
  4. Enable inline translation.
  5. Translate, blocks and other output caches should be disabled for both Storefront and Admin inline translations.
  6. Press on the "Save Config" button to save your changes.

Once you set configurations in your Magento 2 backend, you can start the translation at your frontend.

  1. Select the required language from the drop-down menu (e.g. German).
  2. Select an element on the page you need to translate and the translation form will open.
  3. Input the translated text into the "Custom" field.
  4. Press "Submit" to save the translation.
